Beaumont Scout Reservation

FACILITIES

Nagel Base
The base of operations for our horse and hayride programs also has the following:
• Rec Hall: Great for a pack or troop meeting or Venture crew activity. The facility is heated and has electricity, and outdoor bathrooms. Sleeping quarters (one room with six bunk beds) are available,
• Adirondacks: 13 shelters each hold four Scouts, Venturers or Explorers year-round weekends.
• Camping: For Scouts, Venturers, and Explorers.

PROGRAMS
• Orienteering: How good are you at finding your way using a map and compass? You can improve your skills and have a lot of fun if you use the orienteering facilities available at Beaumont. There is an orienteering kit available for those units who have leaders certified to use the kit. With it you can learn to use a map and compass, to make your own map, and to run a real orienteering course. For those units which feel themselves already skilled in map and compass use, there is a 21-stake permanent orienteering course available by reservation.
• Pioneering Kit: This is a great experience just waiting for your troop. All the materials necessary to build more than 12 different pioneering projects are available to Scout troops. Scout troops can rent the kit. Each troop provides its own instructor to conduct a day of fun and challenge. Leader training is available, in the spring and fall.
• Charter Oak Camp: This excellent weekend program is designed to give new troops, or newly reorganized troops, a good first overnight camping experience, guided by trained, veteran Scout leaders. A staff of Charter Oak camp masters conducts training in camping, cooking, hiking, and how to live comfortably in the outdoors. Weekends are in the spring.
